Canine Cohorts Puppy Consults are dedicated to the best puppy in the world: your puppy. It is up to you to take the first step towards helping your puppy to develop and grow in the right direction. Whether or not you are training, you are still directing behavior and establishing patterns in your puppy’s life. By not teaching or setting limits that your puppy understands you are allowing him to choose how to act. You as the puppy owner may not appreciate his choice of behaviors.
You should begin teaching your puppy as soon as you bring him home. Manners and socialization are equally as important as housetraining. Between the ages of 7 to 16 weeks, puppies begin to form attitudes and opinions that will last a lifetime. Puppies should begin basic manners, as close to 8 weeks of age as possible. By 16 weeks of age many cute puppy stunts have become annoying behavior habits that need to be broken. An early start is so important in preventing future behavioral problems.
Your puppy cannot become your ideal pet without a basic understanding and trust. Love from you, the puppy owner, will mold your puppy into a happy dog. Your puppy wants to please you, he simply does not know how. Let us help you establish a lifelong bond of understanding between you and your pet.
You will be pleased at the affordable cost of your Puppy Consult: it is FREE.
The first step is to call and schedule your puppy consult. At the time of the consult your puppy will be evaluated for temperament and personality, which will aid in the raising of a wonderful canine companion.
Socializing your puppy with people and animals, including other dogs, is critical at this age. Doing so in a positive manner teaches the puppy an acceptable response to unexpected situations. We encourage and monitor handling exercises where you and your puppy learn the appropriate methods for checking various health conditions.
Confidence building exercises teach the puppy to overcome unreasonable fears of the unknown. Increasing his confidence in a positive manner creates a well-rounded puppy. If new experiences are introduced improperly they may lead to permanent fear and possibly aggression towards people.
Basic problem solving is addressed in a simple, easy to understand format. We will discuss housetraining, chewing, and play biting. Play biting can lead to unwanted aggression as the puppy ages. Through planning and careful attention to each puppy as an individual, we can help you learn how to guide your pet’s development in order to prevent problem behaviors. We will also discuss other educational topics to help you raise a healthier happier dog.
We accept any breed of puppy for a Puppy Consult however the puppy must be healthy, have proof of all required vaccines, and have lived in your home for at least two weeks. If your puppy does not meet these criteria you could call for a consult over the phone.
